Doncaster


Thomas Versterre
CEO SARIA UKThomas joined as CEO of SARIA UK in 2024, primarily responsible for developing operations and structures within the business.
Within ReFood, Thomas is responsible for overseeing the operational activities of ReFood’s 3 state-of-the art anaerobic digestion facilities in Doncaster, Widnes and Dagenham. Working closely with the broader teams, he ensures the plants operate safely and efficiently.
Thomas brings extensive management experience and, prior to joining SARIA, played a significant role in driving the success and growth of multiple businesses in the recycling and waste management industry. With 35 years’ experience, Thomas understands the importance of transforming surplus by-products into valuable resources.


Richard Poskitt
Head of Sales & Supply ChainRichard started his career with the SARIA (formerly PDM Group in the UK) in a Process planning and Quality Control role before transferring to the commercial team in 2008. His current role involves the national management of raw material supplies to SARIA’s rendering, petfood ingredient manufacturing and food waste processing plants.
Richard has been a key figure in the development of ReFood’s customer base, working closely with key local, regional and national suppliers to optimise the efficiency of the Doncaster plant supply chain.
Following on from the success of the Doncaster plant, Richard and his team further developed the customer base for the Widnes and London ReFood plants.
In addition to controlling the supply of raw material to the ReFood plants and managing the wide range of key customers, Richard also has responsibility for developing the agricultural markets for the organic fertilisers produced by the AD process.Richard started his career with the SARIA (formerly PDM Group in the UK) in a Process planning and Quality Control role before transferring to the commercial team in 2008. Laura Moffatt
National Sales ManagerLaura has a broad range of experience in commercial and sales roles in business-to-business markets and joined ReFood as a Sales & Logistics Executive in 2011, looking after new and existing customer accounts across the Yorkshire Region. She has since progressed to become the Manager of the Service Delivery Centre.
As well as setting up and managing the Service Delivery department to ensure the best customer service to all of ReFood’s clients, Laura works alongside depot managers to monitor individual teams and maintain the highest standard. Laura takes full responsibility for the flow of data between ReFood’s commercial / supply chain and account teams and is also closely involved in the development of the ReFood brand through local marketing and trade events across the region.


Matthew Hick
Finance ManagerMatthew joined ReFood in 2018 as an Assistant Accountant. In 2024, he was promoted to Finance Manager for SARIA’s SecAnim division, before returning to ReFood as Finance Manager in July of the same year.
As an integral part of the management team, Matthew is responsible for overseeing ReFood’s financial accounts, providing the management team with essential information to support strategic decision making to achieve the company’s financial objectives.
Matthew holds a BA (Honours) degree in Economics and is currently working towards his Chartered Accountant qualification with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).


Shane Murray
Head of TechnicalShane joined SARIA UK (formerly PDM Group) in 1990 as an Apprentice Maintenance Electrician, becoming actively involved in ReFood operations in 2012 when he was promoted to Group Project Engineering Manager. Shane was further promoted to Head of Technical in 2025.
Building on the successful launch of the UK’s first ReFood plant, located in Doncaster, Shane played a key role in the expansion of ReFood into Widnes and Dagenham, managing each project from initial design to final hand-over.
As Head of Technical, Shane leads the technical operations across all business units while ensuring full regulatory compliance. He is responsible for driving innovation and operational excellence within the business.
Shane has a strong academic background, holding qualifications in Electrical Engineering, a BSc (Honours) degree in Integrated Technology, and an MSc in Professional Engineering. Shane is also a Chartered Engineer.


Andy Shelbourne
Plant Operations ManagerAndy joined ReFood in 2023 as Plant Operations Manager, responsible for the safe, compliant and efficient day-to-day running of ReFood’s anaerobic digestion facility in Doncaster. Andy oversees the entire process, from the intake of material to the generation of renewable energy from food waste, while monitoring the production of our high-quality biofertiliser, ReGrow, for local farmers.
With over 30 years’ experience in the waste and chemical industries, Andy brings a wealth of expertise in chemical waste treatment and manufacturing. Andy’s in-depth industry knowledge and hands-on experience play a key role in supporting ReFood’s commitment to sustainable waste management solutions.
Andy holds a BSc degree in Chemistry.


Maria L'Ala
Regional Sales ManagerMaria joined the Doncaster team in 2015 as a Sales and Logistics Executive, looking after customers in the North and East Yorkshire region. Maria has since progressed her career with ReFood to become the Regional Sales Manager.
With many years’ experience in the B2B sector in Business Development management roles, Maria looks after existing customers across the region as well as developing new business opportunities.
